Minesweeper

Reveal every safe square without opening a mine.

How to play

  1. Choose Reveal and tap a hidden square. A number counts mines in all neighboring squares, including diagonals; an empty area opens automatically. If the board is unopened, the first reveal opens a safe area.
  2. Choose Flag and tap a hidden square to mark a suspected mine; tap again in Flag mode to remove it. Right-click, hold a square on touch, or press F on a selected square to toggle a flag. The counter shows flags left, not verified mines.
  3. Click a revealed number to open its unflagged neighbors when the neighboring flag count matches. This is chording: wrong flags can still expose a mine. Arrow keys move the selection; R reveals a hidden square.
  4. Remove a flag before revealing that square. Flags are optional notes, not confirmed mines, and placing all flags does not complete the board.
  5. Opening a mine ends the attempt. Reveal all safe squares to complete it.

Head-to-head rules

Reveal every safe square without hitting a mine before your opponent. Both players get the same puzzle and start together, with 3 minutes to finish. Completion time decides the match; fewer moves or a higher solo score do not beat an earlier correct finish. Finishes within 0.1 seconds draw. If neither player finishes before time runs out, the match is a draw.

Your moves and answers stay private. Leaving through the game controls forfeits the match; closing the page does not pause its clock.

Real-player matches update this game's own Elo rating. Daily and practice results keep their separate progress and never change Elo.
