Word Guess

Find the hidden word within the guess limit shown.

How to play

  1. Enter a word of the shown length from this game’s common-English word list. Type or tap the letter keyboard, then use Guess or Enter. Delete removes the last typed letter; Clear empties your entry.
  2. Green means the letter is in the correct position. Gold means it belongs in another position. Gray means there is no additional copy of that letter available in the answer.
  3. Repeated letters receive green or gold marks only as many times as they occur in the answer. A gray copy can appear beside a green or gold copy of the same letter.
  4. Only accepted, new guesses use the limit. Unsupported words and guesses you already tried are rejected without using a guess.
  5. A correct guess completes the puzzle; after the final wrong guess, the answer is revealed. Solving on the first guess earns 1,200 points, with 200 fewer points for each extra accepted guess.

Head-to-head rules

Find the five-letter word within six guesses before your opponent. Both players get the same puzzle and start together, with 3 minutes to finish. Completion time decides the match; fewer moves or a higher solo score do not beat an earlier correct finish. Finishes within 0.1 seconds draw. If neither player finishes before time runs out, the match is a draw.

Your moves and answers stay private. Leaving through the game controls forfeits the match; closing the page does not pause its clock.

Real-player matches update this game's own Elo rating. Daily and practice results keep their separate progress and never change Elo.
